Galaxy radios tend to be very popular, even by those who have had their's replaced or repaired several times. Originally based on the Uniden Grant / Cobra 148 PCB, these radios have gone through many revisions, and countries of origin.

The basic layout per model changes very little. For example, if you compare the DX99 pictured above with one of the new 959's, you'll see that knob placement/layout is almost identical.

But going back to quality - you still can't buy much better than the Uniden Grant XL.
